Renzo Marasca Gestures have always played a prominent role in the history of painting. Making a gesture presupposes an intention and - consequently - a vision. The essential parts of my work are those gestures finalized to create a form that in most cases is independent from its utopian potential. These are the issues I grapple with in my work, as well as the potential of the image as thought in painting. The contingency of signs and the pre-conceived notion of form constitute the base from where I start. This approach leads to the elimination of the drawing of the figure as a constructive (and therefore ideological) element of the image.
