It turns out that while the crew was shooting the show outside on the street of the city, the New York Police Department had to shut down production after locals called the cops because they thought that a scripted gun battle was actually real, according to TMZ. Nearby residents believed that they were about to be caught in a vicious shootout, and when real police officers arrived and discovered that the entire scene was actually fake, they dropped the hammer on the show and shut it down. The reason? It turns out that the show was supposed to have NYPD supervisors on the set because gun scenes were being filmed, and there weren’t any present during filming. TMZ writes that the Mayor’s Office confirmed the show’s permit was revoked and forced producers to immediately stop shooting outside for the day. Apparently, the whole scene went down because shooting began eariler than planned due to a scheduling error. Filming is expected to resume soon. “Person of Interest” returns to CBS on Sept. 24.
