Report from Interview Panel for OKDRS April 16-17, 2014 I am not sure how I was selected but I was honored to be chosen to sit on this interview panel. We interviewed 7 candidates for the position of Division Administrator with OKDRS. There are 3 Division Administrator’s that cover the entire state of Oklahoma; they oversee approximately 100 employees each. The position for one of these positions has been vacant for a year now. Out of the 7 candidates, 6 are already Program Managers that see over approximately 20 employees. One candidate is a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. As a new Director it was a privilege to interview these Program Managers. The questions we asked where over policies and procedures, Federal Regulations, communication, conflicts, travel, credentials, data, standards and indicators, Servant Leadership, etc… I look at sitting on this panel as an opportunity to learn how to be someone who is in charge of a staff of VR counselors. It was like I was learning from 7 different philosophies but all toward the same goal. I can honestly say I learned some good leadership skills the past day and a half and I found out about some information I will research and learn more about. I rubbed elbows with some very important people and I am acquaintances with 5 of the people I interviewed and I am sure they have a new found respect for me since I was sitting across that table from them. I feel I have done a great job representing the Cheyenne & Arapaho tribes participating on this panel. Thank you
