Reports of a school shooting at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Oregon. The Oregonian reports a teacher was shot and taken out on a stretcher, and that a shooter was killed--but remember that first reports are often wrong. In any case, I wonder if well learn from these. We arent going to eliminate shootings or guns in America, but the question is where we draw the line in regulating them. To protect students we regulate school building codes and lunches and stairways. We regulate cars with registration, licensing, insurance and design requirements, and they save lives. Why not try to save lives by reducing gun deaths in a similar way?
