Repost from a LinkedIn Connection: Have you ever taken a long road trip? Were you doing part, if not all of the driving? My family and I take road trips from time to time and normally I handle the driving. Stay with me and see where Im going.... Before we book reservations, inspect the car or load up the luggage I first need to have a clear understanding of WHERE we are going. Sounds minute but oh how important it is to know where you are headed. You see, I like to map out alternate routes and plan for stops, shops and etc... After a couple of hours my wife will ask if I want her to take over and I quickly respond that Im okay, I got it only because I like to be the driver in almost every situation where Im involved. This has been a huge thing for me as its easy to ride passenger and in some circumstances take the back seat. I take some type of responsibility in knowing that if we dont get there (safely of course) then I have done everything in my power to arrive at our destination. And some point during the last stretch when my eyes hurt and my yawning seems to be the only thing consistent , my thoughts float back to what I said ...I got it, so I push through. I bring this up because some will find every exit, gas station, pothole, reason and even the ultimate killer of your time...being a passenger to not arrive at your destination. To sum it all up and bring it into perspective, you cannot blame someone else if your are behind the wheel. So the real question you have to ask yourself is Are you a driver?
