Reposting from Robert Young, on the Beanstalk… Hello All, I have once again contacted the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (in Rochester, NY USA) in an attempt to have them invite Procol Harum to perform with them this summer. I know youve heard this from me before but Im not giving up now that our favorite band is returning to the east coast of the US. I have included the text of my request of the RPO below. I also sent them the contact info for Chris Cooke. Though I have not heard back from Chris, since he posted his contact info on the Beanstalk, I assume thats OK. If anyone else would be excited about a Procol Harum concert with orchestra in Upstste NY, here is the RPOs contact site: rpo.org/contact.php Please send them a note. I know the odds are slim but if enough people write them, who knows? After all, Ottawa, Canada just got an orchestral performance. How bout the USA? My request: 3/26/2014 To Whom It May Concern, Please do not delete this request without reading (and perhaps forwarding) it. I am writing you once again with the hope you will consider performing with Procol Harum. Procol Harum will be crossing the Atlantic this summer to perform in 8 east coast venues for perhaps the last time. As of now, their only performance with orchestra will be in Ottawa, Canada on July 10 with the NAC Orchestra. I am quite sure that if the RPO invited Gary Brooker and Procol Harum to perform together, Rochester would become a destination for thousands of fans up and down the east coast of the US. Their recorded performance with The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in the 70s is legendary and their repeat performance with same a few years ago sold out two shows. Procol also performed with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra in 2010 and sold out their Grand Gala at The Grand Opera House in Wilmington DE. Gary Brooker has stated to me that he wishes more US orchestras had invited performances with them over the last 40 years and it is truly unfortunate that hasnt happened. But, there is still a chance. The Eastman Theater will sell out in a matter of days if this can be put together. (I just hope youll save me two seats) I may be writing to the wrong party, perhaps I should be writing to Jeff Tysak. If so, please forward this to the proper party, someone that can consider and act upon this possibility; a chance to do something special in Rochester, NY.
