Reposting the question I had asked and the comments associated with it: Has anyone ever paid for using genealogy ? Can you really look up anyones birth records through this search? Im looking for Christopher Johnson McCandless who went by the Alias Alexander Supertramp and had his life story published for giving up everything and venturing into AK… Film about him Into the Wild.. Just trying to find his birth time and usually I give up trying if I cant but wondered if Genealogy could help??? Nayeli Elyan: I realize not all times are listed on certificates but wondered if the site really does allow you access to what it claims? Michelle Young: It depends on which was his birth state, but Ive seen enough from the site to realize that theres a lot of buy this or buy that and you have to wade through the rest. If you have his DOB, youre probably doing well. Depends even if you can get in what state he was born. If its New York State, for example, you can almost assuredly (99.999999999999%) kiss the thought goodbye. Nayeli Elyan: Newspapers used to list births .. I know they still list obituaries .. do you ever search online libraries.. ? I havent yet, but Ive been told many have all their old micro-ficsh out on the web these days.. Havent investigated yet. Would you think births be in there? Ill try tomorrow and let you know if I come up with anything proof-positive. Just thought you might already know the answer.. or someone here would have alternative advice Im always too nervous about giving my credit card info.. so hard to cancel crap these days. Michelle Young: They still do list births--at least locally, they do--but the births where I live come out *MAYBE* once a week. It might be every two weeks. Theyre very sporadically listed and only rarely do they note a time--for instance the first New Years baby of the year, the first Mothers Day baby, etc...but they dont always list the TOB. In fact, where I live, youre lucky to hear *any* birthtime, and its normally a fluke when they mention that! In the years since Ive returned home, I literally have seen 2 birth times that I can recall. Births will only be in there for the DOB, NOT the TOB. TOB, as I mentioned, has to do with the first baby of a particular holiday or New Year. Michelle Young: Even the microfiche files are next to nonexistent to find unless youre a validated immediate relative. Youre really spinning your wheels if you think its a go here and youll find it. Youd have more luck winning PowerBall. Sorry, Nayeli. I dont mean to sound like a naysayer, but.................. Lets put it this way: Tom Cruise was born in a city about 90 minutes north of me. (I dont remember whether it was Syracuse or Utica.) Lucille Ball was born in Jamestown, about 3 hours or so to the west of me. Unless they have *her* BC/BR at the museum where her house was, its not going to happen. That info is locked about as securely as Fort Knox. Tom Cruise? Nope. Unless it was offered, youre not going to get your hands on it. Nayeli Elyan: Do you happen to know how sources like Astro come up with the birth time of individuals.. ? I look up many people and so many are virtually unknown by popular media but low and behold Im shocked to find some in there .. Do they contact the individuals or others provide THEM with the data? Astrotheme is another place I look.. theres usually quite a bit there too.. Michelle Young: Heres another example. Rod Serling was born in Syracuse. (I thought it was in Ithaca or in Binghamton. The only cities Id ever heard about in re to his home here in New York State were Binghamton and Ithaca. He went to the high school where I attended for a couple of years. It was either the school theater or auditorium that was named after him. THAT is easier to know about than his birth time. AstroDataBank has his birth date and place, but it has a C rating with unverified information. My guess is it came from a biography, but it wasnt noted; hence the C rating: Nayeli Elyan: Im a Virgo rising so details are very important to me and I wish theyd deliver answers to why they rate what they do.. I have big dreams that one day everyones birth times will be mandatory and available for all. Silly, I know. Wouldnt that be a great realization though?!! I know most will say NO!.. Still.. its my dream. Michelle Young: Sorry, why they rate what they do? Nayeli Elyan: Why they give Serling a C rating. I just wish theyd provide a little background info of where they got their info. Michelle Young: ...everyones birth times will be mandatory and available for all, ummmm Nayeli...sorry to burst your bubble but thats a huge bubble Im going to burst now. Its considered an invasion of privacy. As for Serling getting a C rating, that has to do with the following youll see on the site: Name Serling, Rod Gender: M Birthname Rodman Edward Serling born on 25 December 1924 at 15:15 3:15 PM ) Place Syracuse, New York, 43n03, 76w09 Timezone EST h5w (is standard time) Data source Orig source not known Rodden Rating C Collector: Rodden Michelle Young FOIA stops at government information. Your PRIVATE info is PRIVATE. Lets put it this way, if you could get someones TOB, or the DOB...what makes you think they wouldnt then reveal where you live, with whom, your gender preferences, etc...? Imagine if you were the victim of domestic violence. What about the government informant on a major crime (think Mafia--NOT Snowden)? How would you deal with that when it comes to the Protected Witness Program? Nayeli Elyan: It doesnt make sense that someone would have his TIME and place of birth but the origin source is unknown.. Given a C rating. its like saying DONT TRUST ANYTHING HERE… I dont see having birth information as an invasion of privacy because every astrologer Ive contacted has been WRONG about my chart.. Im not mentioning well known names here, but theyve been wrong and I know why theyve been wrong. A good astrologer will believe anything can be known by your time/date of birth .. but an EXCELLENT astrologer knows that is not true. Its not an invasion of privacy IMO.. Social security number availability.. THAT is an invasion of privacy. Anything can be known like your current residence.. Astrology is still in its infancy. 300 years from now and *maybe*.. maybe it will be an invasion of ones privacy. Thats my perspective from an astrological view. Michelle Young: No, its YOUR opinion that its not an invasion of privacy, Nayeli. And when you become Queen of the United States of America, you can create your own laws and decide to do away with our rights to privacy. The C rating has to do with how Lois Rodden obtained the information before. There can be a lot of reasons how that happens. My mother was a home birth, for example, born by midwife. I havent bothered finding out from the state because it would be vague information. Birth times have been terribly inconsistent in this country through the years. For that matter, we cant always get good info on the countries and when their independence was declared--speaking of which, do tell, exactly what time was the nation known as the United States of America created? And for that matter, which date? Ask a Brazilian astrologer what time Brazil was declared independent. Ask a British citizen if s/he knows the exact time s/he was born--or one from Portugal... I can go on. And then there is the issue of people who believe in witchcraft in many countries and theyll actually lie about the time or date or both! Its easier to find the SS# of a person who is already dead than it is to find the time of birth for that person. My grandfather didnt even have a Social Security number. He wasnt born in this country and it wasnt required when he came here as a child. I trust my grandmother didnt have one either. (For that matter, out of all of my grandparents, Id lay odds that *maybe* one did, but no more than that.) People often go to a naadi astrologer in India if they dont have their birth information. Some people arent even sure of their date of birth. I have one client who has *no* idea of her time of birth because she was secretly adopted on the night she was born. How would you suggest that would be handled? Nayeli Elyan: I said it was MY opinion. My opinion is expert IMO. But that is irrelevant to you. I was just stating my opinion. Still stating Im an expert (IMO). :D My name .. real name.. as you already know was changed. Do you realize that anyone and everyone can have that info and it is NOT a violation of my privacy but everyones right? NOw, maybe you and everyone else would say if it was your right as an American to have that info because the right existed before my name change-- then its your right to know. Im just saying.. Id freely give anyone in the world my Birth date and time of birth but Id rather keep my name change private. I simply believe birth certificates should be public information if they are to exist in the first place. Id HATE to be the american who decided to take up astrology and NOT know her date or even time of birth. By now.. Yes, I know myself well enough to figure it out… still, makes progression of the science difficult.. I have a guide I ask for birth times. Hes often accurate and he often gives me times that would be pertinent to only MY understanding and interpretation of a chart. Hes given me times Ive only later verified that were within a 10 minute time frame for accuracy. Yes, I consult him about the chart Im looking for tonight, but I ran into someones time for him online that I dont agree with and I hate the spreading of false information. Hate it. Like the C rating. Should be listed as unknown in my opinion. I have an uncle who was delivered by a doctor who was *drunk* and there is ongoing debate as to his DATE of birth. Michelle Young: NO time of birth takes an X rating, Nayeli. I remember our discussion about that uncle. Perhaps you dont know, but Lois Rodden was never able to get her time of birth verified. Her chart was rectified. Ill throw another kink in the wheel here now and tell you that during the years when people of color werent considered citizens, there were many birth certificates and times that were lost in fires in the deep South. I dont know whether that was deliberate, but the times of birth even for famous people were destroyed--and they will remain that way forever because theres no way to get the data. This includes native Americans, people from Spanish speaking cultures and Blacks. Newest comment from Nayeli: Sorry (again) Michelle for having deleted the post after you had taken the time to make all your comments --- I explained to you I had been drinking heavily and knew (yes, even while drinking)-- whatever I had written and was in the process of writing likely did not accurately reflect the truth in my judgement that a persons birth information SHOULD be regarded as sensitive and privacy over this should be respected. Having someones private information --- whatever it is .. is not a *right* -It is a privilege. Im naturally someone without boundaries (see my chart) and *especially so whilst intoxicated --- its taken me a long time to respect others opinions about this matter, but I did finally arrive with this attitude and you have/had done much to help get me there:) No, Ive not thrown all my lessons learnt to the wind while dancing morally retrograde.. I just drank way tooooo much!!
