Representatives of U.S. Sen. Al Franken will meet with local veterans and veterans advocates Tuesday in Hibbing! The representatives hope to gain input on the expanding backlog of veterans benefits claims that are forcing hundreds of thousands of returning veterans to put their lives on hold for many months while their claims are being processed, according to a release. “We have a responsibility to take care of the men and women who have served our nation and right now veterans are waiting too long to start receiving the benefits they’ve earned,” said Franken, in a release. Franken also plans to reintroduce legislation to increased access to health care benefits for veterans in rural areas. Representatives of U.S. Sen.
