Reproductive Health Officer Reproductive Health Officer in Gaza Strip Background The Palestinian Authority is establishing the Palestinian National Institute of Public Health (PNIPH). The World Health Organization (WHO) has been given the task of setting up the PNIPH, in close cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Palestinian universities, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, and other stakeholders. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is funding the project. The aim is to establish the PNIPH as a legal entity under the umbrella of the Palestinian Authority, fully accountable for its professional and technical responsibilities and budget. The Institute will have a governing board with representatives from key stakeholders and will be able to speak out and publish reports and commentaries on health issues. The PNIPH project with the support of the Norwegian government will implement the harmonized Reproductive Health Registry (hRHR) in Palestine by financing the infrastructure, software and the needed training. The aim of the hRHR is to adapt a comprehensive evidence-based mother and child health registry in Palestinian and to implement it into the health services. Objectives of the programme With funding from The Research Council of Norway - Global Health and Vaccination Research (GLOBVAC) program, we aim to undertake a cluster-randomized controlled trial of the implementation of an electronic reproductive health registry in Palestine, to study the effectiveness of clinical support tools and feedback modules to health professionals and women themselves. WHO in collaboration with the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) announces one opening for full time Reproductive health officer - PhD position located at WHO office in Gaza with regular visits to Palestinian National Institute of Public Health (PNIPH) in Ramallah. The Reproductive Health Officer will follow the PhD program at the University of Bergen, Norway, with supervisor(s) affiliated to the NIPH with the purpose of research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree. The Reproductive Health Officer will join the research group at the PNIPH and WHO Gaza office to support the implementation of harmonized Reproductive Health Registry (hRHR) and to work closely with the research group in the Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (RMNCH) team at the NIPH. The RMNCH team is part of the Norwegian Research Council Center of Excellence CISMAC (Center for Intervention Sciences for Mothers and Children) led by the University of Bergen. Job description: Participate in the implementation of the electronic reproductive health registry to be studied in Palestine Collect and analyze data for systematic review and randomized trials Develop research protocols Conduct formative research Be responsible for publication of research results in international journals Complete a PhD degree at the University of Bergen ( Minimum 12 months abroad in Norway) Qualifications: Education at master level in medicine, public health, or other related field with proof of excellent academic results Relevant research experience is preferable Skills Excellent communication skills and command of English and Arabic languages, both oral and written Able to work well both independent and within a multidisciplinary team, at national and international level Highly motivated in delivering high quality results Organizational Context Under the supervision of the Project Manager the incumbent will be responsible for the specified assigned duties above in collaboration with the rest of the project team including the hRHR team leader in the WB.
