Republican senator Corker of Tennessee notes that gas prices have fallen precipitously. Rather than celebrating the relief of the pressure on the budget of the average American, or even considering what Congress might do to help American production to keep prices low and supply plentiful... rather than even considering what harm might come to Americans or national security if they go too low or too long that way... Corker wants to raise gasoline taxes to make up for a shortfall-- to GOVERNMENT. No matter what else happens, the beast must be fed. :-P
