Republicans should frame their policies and tactical positions in terms of a defense of freedom. Economic redistribution is not fairness, as progressives maintain. It is theft and therefore a war on freedom. Compulsory public schools ore not a service to minorities and the poor but infringements on their freedom to choose a good education and pursue the American dream. Obamacare mandates not only drive up costs and diminish the quality of care, they infringe on choice--the freedom of individuals to manage their own healthcare as they think best. Massive government deficits are not accounting problems; they are a war on the ability of individuals to work for themselves instead of the government and are therefore an attack on the pursuit of happiness.
