Resident Director, Housing & Residence Life - 1400000018 Description This position is responsible for the supervision of residence halls to include oversight and coordination of student employees, safety, student activities, student conduct, public relations, and administrative duties. Responsibilities include: (1) Student Development: overseeing residence life programming with assigned apartment complex; mediating conflicts between roommates and residents; providing effective programs within complex, participating and supporting department wide programs; supervising staff to ensure that program requirements are met; informing residents of departmental and student code of conduct policies; enforcing and reporting policy violations; performing conduct hearings for minor violations and adjudicate sanctions; responding to emergency or crisis situations; participating in on-call duty rotation (including holidays); monitoring and maintain security procedures for residence halls; serving as a resource to students for concerns related to college life. (2) Staff Supervision and Development: recruiting, interviewing, training, and supervising 10-15 student staff within assigned complex; training and supervising at least one full-time support staff; conducting individual meetings, staff meetings and regular evaluations; providing positive feedback and motivation. (3) Administration: responsible for managing a 1-2 apartment complexes which house 400-600 residents; responsible for administrative functions within assigned residence hall to include, but not limited to, coordinating complex health and safety inspections, staff payroll, verify key inventory, mail distribution, and housing tours; coordinating check-in and check-out processes; assisting in room change process and room selection; providing weekly inspections of facilities and follow-up to ensure work is completed; attend residence life staff, departmental, and divisional meetings; participate in selection and training of new professional staff. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Qualifications Bachelors required at time of employment; Masters degree preferred; experience in Housing, Residence Life, Student Development, Admissions, Orientation, or Counseling required; experience in staff supervision and training preferred; ability to work with diverse student body and ability to display an understanding of developmental needs of students.
