Please remember that the IRS will never ask for credit card information or request immediate payment over the phone, and will not take enforcement action following a phone conversation. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, please call the IRS directly at (800) 829-1040 and report the call to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at (800) 366-4484.
