Responding to a call from Canadian Friars in New England, Sr. Mary - TopicsExpress

Responding to a call from Canadian Friars in New England, Sr. Mary Bertrand Sheridan and other sisters from Washington, D.C. founded a community in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1891 for the purpose of serving Franco-Americans. The name of this congregation was the Dominican Sisters of Fall Rivers. They ministered to the parishioners at St. Anne’s Church by founding a school. They soon established several other grade schools, as well as Dominican Academy, in 1895. Just over a century after its founding, the Dominican Sisters of Fall River joined the Dominican Sisters of Hope in 1995.
