Response from Hallmark to my email re Anniversary Gift List including Ivory Response By Email (Jessica) (08/04/2014 12:50 PM) Thank you for contacting Hallmark. Thanks for expressing your concern about the inclusion of ivory on our anniversary gift list. The traditional anniversary gift list was created in the 1930s by the American National Retail Jeweler Association. Our article was intended to be informational, but we understand the concerns about illegal ivory products and want it to be clear that we dont condone the ivory trade in any way. We are in the process of updating the list based on your feedback. We appreciate your taking the time to let us know your feelings. Customer By CSS Web (Patti Fritchie) (08/03/2014 07:37 PM) Elephants are murdered for their ivory. There is an international treaty against trading in ivory. How can Hallmark in all good conscious recommend IVORY as a gift for an anniversary? Shame on this irresponsible action. Please take this page down. Help us keep elephants in the wild from becoming extinct. It is estimated at the rate they are being poached they will be extinct within 10 years. Does Hallmark really want to be a party to that? I for one will boycott all Hallmark products and stores until the company changes this recommendation. Do not hide under the flag of tradition. Traditions can and do end when proven they are bad for the world. This one is. While one customer wont hurt business, please know Im one of many speaking out on Social Media. Tuko pamoja, together we are one and strong. Question Reference # 140803-000118 Date Created: 08/03/2014 07:37 PM
