Response to Bob’s latest diatribe: I see that I’ve won - TopicsExpress

Response to Bob’s latest diatribe: I see that I’ve won Bob’s support for many of my campaign issues – necessary pool renovations, a dedicated Teen Center and removal of lake sediment, although I would expand on his description of what sediment needs to be removed to include all of the recommendations by our expert consultant. It is gratifying to know that years of beating the drum for these repairs and improvements have resulted in changing even Director Cummesky’s perspectives. Why don’t you make it easy on yourself Bob, and just vote for Kay and me. I promise to continue lobbying other Board members to support these initiatives. If we can win you over, perhaps the rest of the Board will follow suit. Or are these just election tactics for you? Of course, we still have differences like the need for a vote on the size and budget of the Hartmann renovations/rebuild. And then, there is the Community Center. Have you noticed how busy that place is lately? Having it available for community use instead of locking the members out makes a difference! I gather that you have had the opportunity to review the videos of the candidate forums. Your rendition of my and Kate’s statements reflect your typical style of half- truths and innuendo. I accepted your apologies for untruthful accusations following the candidate forum, because I believe anyone can make a mistake in the heat of the moment. But Bob, this is no longer an example of “words misspoken”, but a pattern of negative campaigning. For you and those others who will read this, let me give you my vision of our community at its best: • Our Board will begin each year with an orientation on Board Code of Ethics, HVLA governing documents, and state law including Davis Sterling Act and Corporate Law. • Our financial house will be put in order. All routine maintenance will be in the Operating Budget. After a professional reserve study, we will develop a plan to move toward adequate funding of our Reserve Fund. Our Capital Improvement Fund will have its own pro forma budget. • Our members will be invited to participate with the Board in a Community Visioning and long range Planning Process to set the direction for the future of Hidden Valley Lake. This would of course include a vote on facilities planning for our major structures – the Hidden Valley Lake Restaurant and the Community Center. • A management retreat would begin a process of culture changel Service and respect would be the guiding principles for the managers toward each other, their staff and the membership. A strong work ethic would be an expectation for all. • Staff retreat for a continuation of culture change. Service and respect would be the guiding work principles toward each other, their managers and the membership. • Review of job descriptions with clearly defined goals and expectations. Salary and benefit review to ensure appropriate, competitive compensation. • A positive work environment, on the job training, and promotion from within whenever possible, will lead to a competent, productive staff with minimal turnover. HVLA will become the employer of choice in South Lake County. • Our amenities will be in good repair. CC&Rs will be enforced. • We will all take pride in our community. • Property values will go up!
