Result from yesterday: Albert Foundry 3 v 3 St. Marys F.C. (aet: score at 2 - 2 after 90 minutes - sorry 99 minutes :-) Albert Foundry win on penalties Gutted for the lads who gave their absolute all for the club yesterday! It was always going to be a big ask against opponents from the Premier division of the Amateur league - and so it proved. But everyone played their part in what was truly an outstanding performance! It could have been so different - we went in front mid way through the first half and doubled our lead early in the second. Although we created a number of chances to score the third for much of the half it was backs to the wall as Foundry pressed forward in an attempt to get back in the game - and they did. They scored with about 5 minutes to go of normal time. From somewhere the referee managed to find 9 minutes of injury time with Foundry equalising with 10 seconds to go! This was a sickening blow for our lads - but with extra time to play they had to lift themselves. They did and even when our opponents went in front in the second period of extra time they summoned the belief and pushed forward to score a well deserved equaliser to take the game to penalties. Unfortunately things just didnt go our way and our 1st ever Intermediate Cup adventure ended. Disappointed for the squad each of whom gave 100% and more!! We have gained some valuable experience - and no doubt we will continue to learn as we progress as individuals and as a club. But it was great to see such spirit and passion and also quality across the squad. Well done lads! Thanks to Murray Coaches for sponsoring yesterdays game!
