Retired employee arrested in cheating case The police arrested a man in a cheating case involving Rs 50 lakh under Afzalgunj police station limits. According to police, Vikram Jain, 37, a businessman and resident Jambagh gave a hand loan of Rs 50 lakh to Timothy, 53, resident of Guntur and Raj Babu, 58, retired government employee, resident of Vijaywada in 2013. “Upon his insistence for returning the money, they handed a cheque of Rs 35 lakh as first installment, which bounced. Vikram, who felt cheated, filed a complaint against the duo, who was absconding since then”, said G Chandrasekhar, Sub-Inspector, Afzalgunj. On a tip-off, the Afzalgunj police arrested one of the accused Raj Babu in Vijaywada and launched a manhunt for Timothy. A case was registered under various sections of cheating.
