Return of ‘The Pink Window Creations’ The Consumer Council of Fiji is once again calling on consumers to be cautious while shopping online as dodgy online boutiques remain a concern. This crucial call comes in light of the return of The Pink Window Creations with a new brand name, Fashion Bure, which is operated via Facebook. Fashion Bure, Fiji’s newest online boutique markets fashion accessories and trendy clothes. The Council launched an investigation into Fashion Bure after it received queries from consumers regarding the online boutique as it showed no fixed physical address on their Facebook page. All they say is: “Suva, 00679, Suva City, Central, Fiji. The Council has established that Fashion Bure was registered under one Sanjeshni Kumar of Lot 11 Joyce Parks Street, Bayview Heights, Suva on 15th January 2014. However, Ms Kumar changed the ownership of the Fashion Bure under one Shabrina Mehnaz Nisha on 28th January 2014. The Council notes that the physical address of the outgoing owner of Fashion Bure as stated in the business registration form, matches with the residential address of where the owners of The Pink Window Creations reside. Similarly, the Council has come across a number of other local online boutiques on Facebook which do not provide proper addresses or phone contacts for consumers’ benefit and accessibility. The Council is advising consumers to take extra precaution when purchasing products from the social networking sites, particularly, Facebook. While, online shopping is becoming popular amongst Fijian consumers, they must be extra careful so they don’t experience the same fate as the consumers who are still waiting to get refunds from The Pink Window Creations. If you come across a site which does not carry details then DO NOT ENTER INTO TRANSACTIONS! You can write to them using the message box and demand for their phone contacts and call them to confirm their existence/whereabouts. The Council reiterates that consumers must tread with caution when purchasing products through Facebook. Particularly, as there is little or no guarantee that the purchased product will be delivered on time or be fit for its purpose.
