Reuters“Sunset at Montmajour” by Vincent Van Gogh Researchers at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam have concluded that a painting found in a Norwegian attic was painted by Vincent Van Gogh. It’s the first discovery of a new painting by the impressionist master since 1928, The Independent reported. The painting, called “Sunset at Montmajour” was completed in Arles, in southern France, in 1888, the researchers concluded. Paintings by Van Gogh typically sell for tens of millions of dollars when they come up for auction. Christies auctioned “Vue de l’asile et de la chapelle de Saint-Remy” for nearly $16 million last year. Sotheby’s BID in May sold “Eglogue en Provence – un couple d’amoureux” for $7.1 million. “Sunset at Montmajour” will be placed on public display later this month, the Independent reported.
