Alden V. 89 Feb. 22, 1924 Aug. 23, 2013 Age 89, of Northbrook, Ill., formerly of Portland, passed away Aug. 23, 2013. Beloved husband for 62 years of Ruth Winn; loving father of Alden V. (Lynn) Winn Jr.; proud grandfather of Bradley (Jennifer) and Mitchell (Kaitlyn) Winn; fond great-grandfather of Allison Winn; cherished brother of Esther Winn. Rev. Alden was the founder and Pastor for 36 years (1955-1991) of Errol Heights Baptist Church in Portland. He taught part-time, sociology, at Judson College in Portland for over 20 years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He fought in the Pacific and served in the Berlin Air Lift. He was a co-pilot on the B-24 bombers. A committal service will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, 3 p.m., at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Covenant Village Benevolent Fund, 2625 Techny Rd., Northbrook, IL 60062.
