Revolutions and Political leadership Revolutions are good. They - TopicsExpress

Revolutions and Political leadership Revolutions are good. They are important. What happens after the revolution is even more important. Its like you stop eating nice food so that you can buy that car you want. Thats good you bought the car, but now more so you must take very good care of it. Maintain the thing ! Otherwise you can lose it in no time. That is the same concept with any revolution. Look at the Arab spring, they didnt plan well for after the revolution hence there is still war in those places and if they are not careful their revolution will be regarded as meaningless. Now I ask, do people get involved in revolutionary activities so that they get rewarded with position of influence or they get involved because of a fundamental ideology for example equality in sharing national resources. A revolutionary cadre is one who sees beyond himself. He is more concerned about equality amongst people hence they are often called selfless. If however as a revolutionary you are more concerned about being rewarded with a position then the term selfless shouldnt be used on you, because clearly you are not. You just got involved so that you could line yourself for the big posts Zanu pf killed Zimbabwe because they rewarded cadreship with positions! No the fight should be so that we allow qualified good people in offices. Activism is a collective effort therefore it should never guarantee position unless your intellect is upto it. I talked to a friend about Tsvangirai leaving office as a matter of principle(15 years is too long and its not justifiable) and they said no we have to leave him there because of what he has done and what he has lost. Yes we empathize with the guy, but we wont reward him with a position and in the process hold the country at ransom! Again im sorry but im not a big fan of quota systems. I believe positions should be given on merit. We should not reserve seats for women! Why? Well because I know our women are upto the task, they can earn these posts.i have been led by brilliant women before. Our women can match any man of debate for example Priscilla Misihairabwi. Same with the youth , what we just need is a platform to showcase ourselves not just give us certain posts to appease us. On that note, please Zanu pf, war credentials are not a guarantee for offices, unless if you dont know why you went to war. Give me because I died for this country must stop. Its an abusive notion! What about those who lost their lives in the war which positions do we reward them with! This trend of giving positions to appease must stop forthwith otherwise Zimbabwes revolution will cease to have meaning. We need to maintain and build on the gains of our independence, its our , car if we look after it well it will take us from point A to B with no breakdown. #positionandmerit
