Rex Harrison is the eponymous Ghost in the 1947 film The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Its 1900, and the beautiful young widow Lucy Muir (Gene Tierney) decides to move out of the house owned by her snippy mother-in-law. She moves to the seaside village of Whitecliff and rents Gull Cottage -- where she intends to raise her young daughter, Anna (Natalie Wood). Lucy is told that the house is haunted, but she loves Gull Cottage. Nonetheless, the first night in the house, she is visited by the ghostly apparition of the cottages former owner, the roguish sea captain Daniel Gregg (Rex Harrison). A bit impressed with Lucys determination, pluck, love of the cottage, and predicament, Gregg agrees not to to haunt Anna. Suddenly, the income from Lucys investments dries up. Captain Gregg decides to dictate his memoirs to Lucy, so that she can publish the book and make money from the royalties. They fall in love as the dictation continues... But at her publishers, Lucy is attracted to suave Miles Fairley (George Sanders), a lothario and libertine who writes childrens stories... What can Daniel do? Hes a ghost. Shes Mrs. Muir.
