Rhapsody Of Realities Daily Devotional Pastor Anita Oyakhilome Theme: Knowing His Voice Date: Wednesday March 12th, 2014 Scriptural Ref: Revelation: 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20). The Lord Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (John 10:27). In other words, if you belong to Christ, you have no problem discerning His voice. Many wonder if its possible to hear God speak, in a world where therere so many voices. The words of the Master in John 10:2-5 clarify this: But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. The more you study the Word, the more you recognize and know the voice of God, because God and His Word are one. He speaks through His Word. Even if He were to give you a prophecy or a word from the Spirit, itll always be consistent with His written Word. Through constant meditation on His Word, His voice becomes clearer to you, and His blessings become manifest in all you do. Joshua 1:8 says, This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. If, as a Christian, youve found it difficult to recognize Gods voice, you need to keep hearing and receiving His Word into your spirit, to become sensitive to His voice. Youd need to develop a voracious appetite for the Word. Colossians 3:16 says, Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom.... The voice of Gods Spirit is made known to you through the written Word. Moreover, you have to learn to act on the Word quickly. When you receive instructions or counsel from Gods Word, dont delay; act quickly. Thats learning to train your spirit. In addition, praying in the spirit, that is, praying in tongues, helps your spirit to be conditioned to be in sync with Gods ideas, visions and promptings. The more you pray in tongues, the more sensitive your spirit will be to His voice. CONFESSION: I know the voice and the leading of the Spirit, for Im a child of God. Im always quick to respond to the promptings, instructions and counsel from Gods Word, and from His Holy Spirit within me. Amen. Further Study: Colossians 3:16; Proverbs 4:20-22; Isaiah 55:10-11 Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts. (Colossians 3:16 AMP) My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-22 AMP) For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, [II Cor. 9:10.] So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10, 11 AMP) 1 Year Bible Reading Plan: Mark 15:1-20, Numbers 32-33 2 Year Bible Reading Plan: Acts 27:1-8, Psalm 73
