Ric Grenell has always been one of my favorites on Fox. He is an excellent spokesman on foreign policy, and I wish he had not resigned in 2012. Grenell and Romney were correct, but they were ahead of their time. That was demonstrated when Obama won the third and final debate on foreign policy issues. The Romney/Grenell outlook is popular today, but two years ago most Americans did not want to hear anything about Iraq, Russia, the Islamic State or defense readiness. Romneys concerns about Russia and removing all troops from Iraq were seen as silly. If my advice had been solicited, I would have backed Grenells appointment. Rics resignation was a clear victory for Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association, but I rarely hear any Republican use similar language. Gingrich and Bolton did not share Grenells outlook on several gay rights concerns, but it was never an issue between them. Rics focus was foreign policy and he was a team player. His departure was a loss for the conservative team.
