Rich, It looks like Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid finally might be as fed up with Republicans’ radical obstruction as we are. He just pulled what the whippersnappers today might call a “boss” move and filed cloture on SEVEN of the president’s executive branch nominees who have been held up essentially daring Republicans to keep up their unprecedented obstruction. The important nominations at stake include Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Tom Perez for Secretary of Labor, Gina McCarthy to head the EPA and three nominees to the National Labor Relations Board. Make sure to add your name to PFAW’s petitions supporting Tom Perez and Richard Cordray to help us have those important lobbying tools next week. Petition: Confirm Tom Perez>> Petition: Confirm Richard Cordray>> And call your senators to show your support for confirming ALL the nominees. If your senators are Republicans, demand that they end their obstruction. And if they’re Democrats, urge them not to back down and to keep up the pressure to get these nominees confirmed once and for all. Sen. Carl Levin (202) 224-6221 Sen. Debbie A. Stabenow (202) 224-4822 Thank you for all you do. Now’s finally the time … if we stand together and fight as hard as we can, we will make enormous progress in breaking the GOP’s dangerous obstruction of nominations! -- Ben Betz, Online Strategy Manager P.S. Getting these executive branch nominees through is critical to our next step of breaking the logjam on judicial nominees. So please take action today to support Majority Leader Reid’s tough move and help end the obstruction!
