Richmond Grows Seed Lending Library Dear Seed Librarians, Its been such a joy to see the seed lending library movement take off. Happy Interdependence! There are now over 300 seed libraries open in 46 states in the USA and in at least 16 countries! Im sending out this email to see how we can best support each other so we use our resources wisely and build on the successes of others and learn from the challenges. 1. Sister Seed Library List The Sister Libraries list is now going to be hosted at SeedLibraries.weebly. SeedLibraries.weebly/ The list only shows libraries that are open. (This URL will soon change to SeedLibraries.net - Ill send out an email when I get that done.) a. If you are OPEN, please check the list to make sure your library is listed. If you are open but are not on the list or the information is incomplete or inaccurate, please take a moment to fill in this survey so I can easily rectify it. b. If your library is not open but you are on the list or your library closed, please also fill in the survey. c. If you know of other seed libraries that are open but are not on the list or if you know of communities that are interested in opening, please forward them this email. This is the survey for folks that are not currently on this email list, but would like to join. 2. Resources on SeedLibraries.weebly If you havent checked out SeedLibraries.weebly, please do so. If you have resources that you can share that you think would be of benefit please email to me and Ill post them to the site. A recently added resource includes a visual organization chart by Dalhousie University in Canada. 1. Course Material: Were needing course information available. If you have a PPT or handouts for a course that youd be willing to share, please email that to me. 2. Translated Material: if you have any translated materials that you think would be of benefit, please send the English and translated version. 3. Plan a Tomato Tasting (and Seed Saving) Event For ideas on how to plan a tomato tasting visit the Special Projects page. You can hold a super easy seed saving class right afterwards and process the left over tomatoes for your seed library. 4. Forums Many of the questions and concerns we have are common to other seed libraries. Take a moment to log on your questions or solutions on the SeedLibraries.weebly Forums page. Your suggestions and comments will benefit so many. Which leads me to one of the forum questions: How do we move forward from here: webinars/on-line conferences? 5. Are folks interested in having some webinars or on-line conference calls? If so, take a moment to fill in this survey. Thanks for filling in the surveys. It really helps to have all of your responses organized so I can see trends and see what the needs are of the group. Here is a nice video from Douglas Gayeton about Seeds. It includes Sara McCamant of West County Community Seed Exchange at their seed swap. Peas, Rebecca Newburn Richmond Grow Seed Lending Library
