Richmond miss out on a point with a loss to Hampton Hill United. AC Richmond were away today at Hampton Hill United. The Blues started well, attacking from the kick off. Anosh Arian came close on 9 minutes with a run at goal, which was defended well by the Hampton keeper. All was going well with both sides making the most of play when at 21 minutes played Richmond conceded a handball which appeared to have been outside the box. Both teams agreed this but the referee had his own thoughts and gave a penalty, much to the surprise of both teams. This opportunity was seized upon by Hampton, who converted to make it 1 nil. Just 4 minutes later Hampton were through on goal again and a decisive slide tackle in the box by Drew Hemphill saved the score line increasing. Mitch Mills played an outstanding game in the middle of the park, pinging balls through to the front consistently. 39 minutes saw Richmond nearly equalize with a thunder of a shot from Tony Allen running down the right hand side, blast slightly wide of the post. One minute before half time, Hampton made is 2 nil. A good start to the second half again saw Arian shoot, but again slightly wide of the target. Hampton made it 3 on 55 minutes. Richmond were straight back on the attack, an attack which saw Taylor Pearce push forward and hammer home a shot which nearly broke the back of the net. A change of personnel for Richmond saw Kyle Turner come on. Richmond continued to ply the pressure which resulted in a penalty. Turner converted the ball onto the side netting, making the perfect penalty. Richmond saw themselves back in the game and a free kick outside the box gave Jason Gama the chance to score a free kick in the top corner that would be a contender for goal of the season. All was level until a mix up at the back saw Tharanee slip on the grass, allowing Hampton to make it 4-3. Gama had another chance of equalizing with another stunning free kick, but this time the keeper managed to get a hand to it to push it around the post. Tharanee made a superb stop to his left in the last 10 minutes, making his debut a comfortable one. Jermaine Jordan also made is his appearance for the blues. Montoya came on in the last 5 minutes, but it was evident that there was not enough time to grab a point.
