Rick is over an hour late getting home from work, which always makes me nervous. To add to that anxiety, a police car just cruised by very slowly. My heart sunk and my stomach flipped before I saw that they did not pull into our driveway. It is a horrible feeling having another officer come to your door when you dont know why. Once Rick was injured by shrapnel at a training and another time his finger was broken; I was so thankful for only minor injuries. The worst feeling by far was the morning I was watching live TV and shots were fired in Waterloo shortly after Officer Brady (who is a true hero) was shot. All area police were on scene; it was hard not to fear the worst and I was hysterical. Its tough being married to a cop but even tougher being a cop and I appreciate every LEO and the courage they demonstrate everyday.
