Riddle me this : why would the CFA do a planned burn ON Mount Macedon when the forecast is 34C and the winds are predicted to be northerly later this afternoon. ? I felt uneasy when I dropped the kids off to school. The smoke was thick and James coughed all the way from the car to his room. There is a massive amount of fuel on the floor of the forrest. It wont take much for it to go from controlled to out of control very quickly. I fully understand the need for controlled burns and Im truly grateful for all the work the CFA do. But why werent these burns done in August/September ? Mid November with temperatures in the mid 30s ? Cmon peeps. Thats just dangerous and dumb. The public dont hear about the controlled burns that go to far. Unless you know someone in the CFA you wont hear about it. Yesterdays burn in Woodend gave a few CFA members a scare as it went further than planned. Rant over. !!!
