Riders brave the weather for a worthy charity. A number of New South Wales police officers have participated in a motorcycle ride to help raise awareness and funds for research into cancer. ‘Al’s Ride’ was coordinated by the NSW Motorcycle Alliance and supports ‘The Cure for Life Foundation’ and ‘Cure our Kids’. Those participating in the ride are raising funds for care and research into cancer as well as increased public awareness of the disease. Participants started the charity ride from a number of different locations throughout New South Wales today (Saturday 15 February 2014), finishing the ride in Bathurst. Corporate Services Acting Deputy Commissioner Michael Corboy, along with a number of police officers from various commands and specialist units within the New South Wales Force, were also involved in the ride. “We are honoured to be able to participate in the ride this weekend,’ said Acting Deputy Commissioner Michael Corboy. “This disease can have a devastating effect on individuals, families and the wider community. “A few hours out of our day to participate in this ride is nothing when compared to the potential benefits of support for cancer patients and their families as well as research funding,” he said. Hundreds of NSW Police Officers participated in the ride along with approximately 200 motorcycle riders and motorists from throughout the state.
