Riding a Vulcan 2000. Besides an exhaust wrap I have not seen any other methods to shield the pipes from melting your winter gear when you need to back the big girl up and get the leg too close to the upper pipe. Ive seen the signs on a few other larger vulcan pics of gortex ect melted to the chrome as I have already done...twice :-( Has anyone added one of the nice looking chrome heat shield that hose clamps on to the pipes? Was the shield able to stand off the pipe enough to stay cool? I only ask, because they appear to sit very close to the pipe and Im not sure it would cool enough to do much good. Im sure Ill get suggestions to wear leather/jeans ect ect for winter riding instead, but I have gear that works and dont care about the look, Id much rather be warm :-)
