Riding the rails and hoboing around the country with ol Woody G. - TopicsExpress

Riding the rails and hoboing around the country with ol Woody G. was a blast. I always found it amusing that whenever we stopped in New York, wed always eat at his favorite restaurant, Toot Shores. Wearing his fanciest tux, hed seat himself (uninvited) with either Sinatra , Ava, and Jilly, or Roy Cohn and Babara Walters. He would then always order the same thing - Beluga Caviar, followed by Lobster Thermadore, Fillet Mignon, a double steak tartar, and a triple Rob Roy with a straight gin sidecar, while obnoxiously puffing on a never unlit Cuban. Hed tear into his meal like a Viking, burping and farting as loudly as possible. When asked about his concern for the migrant workers, hed reply with a chuckle, let em eat Talapia! These evenings invariably ended with the Wood Man in a fistfight, usually with either Norman Mailer or Ida Lupino. (She was a notorious scrapper, who ultimately ended up killing Howard Duff, her husband of 30 years, with a crushing pile-driver delivered after an evening of absinth and spiked head cheese).
