“Right Response to Adverse Circumstances” (Job - TopicsExpress

“Right Response to Adverse Circumstances” (Job 1:20-22) “I will never forget the teaching of our Senior Pastor about having a right attitude to any adverse circumstances and it helps me a lot especially in the area of ministry and dealing with people. He taught us that attitude means your response to any circumstances. Having the right attitude therefore is having a right response to any negative circumstances. Wrong attitude means wrong response to a negative circumstance. I realize that it’s not what others do unto us or negative circumstances that hurts and offends us, but it’s our own response that really hurt us. For example, pag may ginawa sa iyo na mali o nangyari sa iyo na di maganda, kung ating itong tutugunan din ng maling katugunan, talo tayo. Kaya tayo nasasaktan dahil mali ang ating pagtugon sa maling situasyon sa ating buhay. But when we respond it positively, we will surely win and end up overcoming obstacle upon our lives. Jesus taught us in the Sermon of the Mount about attitude. That is why bible scholars called this ‘The Beattitude’ because He talks all about attitude. In our study for today we will see how Job gave us an example how to have a right reponce to a negative circumstance. Our text is found in the Book of Job the first chapter and verses twenty to twenty-two; “Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, “Naked I came from my mothers womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.” We know what happened to all the children of Job and how he lost all his properties in the previous verses because of the challenge of Satan to God. “Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.” (Job 1:9-12) But we know from chapter three and verses twenty-five that it was his fear that opens the door for the enemy to touch his lives. “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” (Job 3:25) (I will discuss this truth to my future message) But despite of all that happened to Job let’s take a look of his attitude. In verses twenty to twenty-two Job responded four things: 1. He worshipped God, 2. He acknowledge God as the owner of all things and he knew that he is just steward of God’s property, 3. He did not sin. 4. He did not blame God at all. This is the right attitude that God is looking to His people, kaya pala ipanagyabang siya ng Diyos kay Satanas. “And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil.” It’s not the negative circumstances or the wrongs that others have done to us that hurts us, but it’s our own response that really hurt us if we respond it negatively. It’s time to check our hearts, because whatever we have inside is what will respond outside. When we have a right heart we will always respond right to any adverse circumstance. But if we have a wrong heart we will also respond wrong because we can only share what we do have. Apostle also taught us how to have right attitude towards our enemies; “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:17-21) If we know we have a wrong heart God is always ready to forgive if we come to Him and ask for His forgiveness. Come to Him today and He will accept us, and He will never reject and forsake us. He can change our hearts today from being bitter to better hearts.”
