Right, a bit of a long status here but please read till the end, one of my lovely clients who is also a very good friend is having a fundraiser night for her little boy which the committee ladies have organised for her its sat 7th of march in fallin miners welfare, will he a fun night with raffles to help raise more money so if anyone wants to kindly donate anything feel free 😁 ok, he has moderate Sensorineural hearing loss since birth which is basically hearing loss in both ears and all tests so far are indicating its caused by CMV, if it is caused by CMV it will probably get worse over time. His hearing aids only have a 3 metre range and he finds it hard to hear if one person is speaking if there is a lot of background noise. This means if hes in a park he wont necessarily hear us or at nursery they need to take his group into a separate room and he needs to sit next to whoever is speaking so he can hear. NDCS recommended a trial of radio aids, which are receivers fitted to his hearing aid and us or his teacher would wear a transmitter - this means when you speak the sound is sent straight into his hearing aids. the first day he wore them - the dept head of the nursery came running to meet me when I was collecting him to say how amazing they were & they noticed a difference the first day! Radio aids are only funded by the education board when kids reach primary school ago - and even then, they have to stay in school for use in class only ....often parents have to insure them even though they never use them.
