Right in the middle of one of the most fridgid winters ever, our buddies in Congress are at it again, raising taxes on energy products... this time on fuel oil. Its only two-tenths of a cent on every gallon sold - wink, wink... and The bill prohibits oil companies from passing the fee on to consumers - wink, wink. This new tax will be in place for 20 YEARS??? Steve Ellis, vice president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, agreed that it’s unrealistic to think the fee won’t be passed on to consumers and said violations would be impossible to prove. “It just makes people feel good to say that, but doesn’t really translate in reality to how it will actually happen for consumers,” he said. If you use fuel oil to heat your house, youd better call/email your congressman and let his/her know exactly how you feel about this one.
