Right to Education in Uttar Pradesh Fact1: Clause 12 of the RTE - TopicsExpress

Right to Education in Uttar Pradesh Fact1: Clause 12 of the RTE Act 2009 stipulates all private unaided schools to admit 25% disadvantaged and weaker section children (EWS) in class I / pre-primary level where government will reimburse their fees. This is a sort PPP model and a school choice program that is a step forward in the positive direction in Educational reforms. What Uttar Pradesh did? It is the only state (apart from AP) that smartly put a constraint that an EWS child can apply for admissions in private schools only if there is no govt. school within 1 km radius or no seats available in the nearest govt. school, thereby going against the spirit of the Act. The decision was passed in the cabinet in 2012 Result: Only 60 admissions out of 5,00,000 available seats last year in the entire UP. Our team is working hard to overturn this decision... If you are interested in education reforms and willing to work in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, we would like to meet you... There is a lot of action happening in the coming days... - Bharat Abhyudaya Foundation
