★ Rise above tough and challenging situations to be happy Here, we are going to discuss about ways in which people transcend their adversities. As we all know, our life is characterized by a combination of good and bad things. It’s like a roller coaster; if you are up one time, you will slide down, another and then go up again. When we are on the peak, we tend to be very happy seeing the entire world with a heart filled with joy. However when we slide down in full force, we feel that lump in our stomach and fear in our eyes. Despite knowing and accepting the fact that life is going to subject us to those occasional trials and tribulations, we dislike it when actually faced with one. Now, if we were to categorize people based on their reaction / response to a problem, we can say there are typically two kinds; the ones who drown in perpetual disappointment and despair and the ones who rise above. Yes, you may have seen people who manage to push themselves forward and sail through rough tides with no remorse or despair. Despite going through terrible situations, they seem so upbeat and strong. How do they do it? On the busy streets of Manhattan, a man hopped into a taxi to go to the airport. Suddenly, from nowhere a red sedan jumped right in front of the taxi. The taxi driver immediately slammed the brakes and brought the vehicle to a halt thereby averting an accident by just a few inches. The passenger sitting in the taxi was almost sure that the taxi driver would brew a wordy duel with the other driver for his negligent driving and that he would get late for the airport. On the contrary, the driver of the red sedan threw up his hands in the air and started yelling at the taxi driver. The taxi driver simply smiled and waved at the other man in a warm and very friendly manner. As hard as this was to digest, it also perplexed the passenger. When he asked him about his warmth and poise in such an irritable situation he said, “I call it the law of the garbage truck. You see, many people carry their garbage around all day not knowing where to dump it. By garbage I mean frustration, anger stress etc… When they don’t find a place to dump the piled up garbage they dump it on you. Just don’t take it personally.” And this is how people stride forward when faced with challenges. They do not pile up the stress and frustration caused by the situation. Worrying or reacting negatively to a problem will only aggravate the pain and torture. Fix it, forget it and move on; you are yet to reach your destination, do not let such road blocks deviate you from the core. Remember that life is too short to wake up with remorse. The next time you come across a problem, remember to stay composed, smile and wave the problem goodbye! In Spiritual Service, Brahma Kumaris ♥
