Risky Seeds, Risky Hearts Excerpt: Sadie Jean Dixon geared her Dodge truck down as she hit the base of Juniper Canyon. Looking in her side mirror, she checked how Dusty was handling the ride in the horse trailer. Not that this little jaunt should bother him. He had ridden back there some eight hundred miles all the way from Dalhart, Texas to get to central Utah. Gypsy, her Border collie, paced on the passenger’s seat, her startling sky-blue eyes filled with excitement at the sights of the new terrain. “You’re going to wear yourself out before we even get there,” she told Gypsy. Gypsy closed her mouth for a second, looked at her like she was crazy, and then went back to panting and pacing. Sadie sighed. She had been thrilled to get this forestry technician position right out of college with so few jobs available. She had jumped at the chance without considering what it would be like without her family and friends near. Gypsy and Dusty were great, but once in a while it would be nice to talk to someone who could carry on a conversation. Most of the time, it didn’t bother her though. She liked the solitude of the mountains, fresh air, and the laidback lifestyle forestry afforded her. No pent-up corporate office in some big city for her. This was the life. Amazon: amzn.to/1c1xTYO
