River Conquest II. I think we won this time. We took the Cuyahoga for 6 miles from just east of Mantua to just south of SR 303 in Shalersville township. Only 10 minutes drive but over 2.5 hrs. on the water. Very pleasant. Some minor issues with trees in the water along the way. We had several trees in the water at different points that we had to maneuver around and there was some fast water in places. The river was more than high enough with a good current to make paddling unnecessary a lot of the time, but you had to be ready around the trees. One tree in the water captured Susie and she tried to fight it with her paddle only to have it grab the paddle and trap her. There was tons of debris in the limbs from when the water was higher and everything dumped on her and the kayak. Once she got free and got moving down the river again, she had to acknowledge stowaways in her kayak with the traditional river screams. A very small tree frog jumped on her leg and there were several spider sightings. We saw some nice homes along the river and even talked to a couple of guys fishing from kayaks. We also saw a couple bald eagles in flight. The weather was perfect and no one got injured as far as I know (unless Susie develops some weird spider bite reaction again). No one drowned, so it was a very successful trip with some nice scenery.
