River Rats Split Doubleheader: The Rome River Rats 12U travel baseball team continued Empire State League play Sunday as they split two games with the North Colonie Bison in a doubleheader at the Bobby Page Memorial Baseball Complex. Rome won the first game 7-1 as pitcher Anthony Acosta recorded the victory on the mound and Jake Switzer pitched a scoreless two innings of relief to record the save. John Longeretta and Acosta sparked the hitting attack by each hitting home runs in the winning effort. The Bisons would go on and deliver the Rats a loss by winning the second game 7-5. Jim Faso led Rome with two hits while Switzer, Jordan Elliott and Griffin Eychner each added RBI doubles in the game. Rome will travel to Castleton next Sunday for an ESBL doubleheader.
