Bipi told journalists that the necessary consultations have been made, with the State Assembly officially notifying Amaechi of the impeachment process. Bipi told journalists that the alleged misappropriation and large scale fraud by the governor are key to the impeachment process. The factional speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly said that the impeachment process will concluded at a location selected by members. Bipi argued that if the 25 pro-Amaechi lawmakers could sit in Government House to hold plenary, there was nothing wrong if he and members decided to impeach the governor at any location. He stated that Amaechi must be made to account for the resources accruing to the state. He insisted that they would be swift and decisive in their move to unseat the governor. Bipi said, “Amaechi has committed a lot of impeachable offences. My constituency project entitlement was withheld by him. He has withheld our (anti-Amaechi lawmakers) allowances. He has been taking loans without the consent of the full house. But the pro-Amaechi factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Otelemaba Dan-Amachree, disagreed with the anti-Amaechi lawmakers. He stated that the governor had not committed any offence that would warrant any move for his impeachment. Since the division of the House, Amaechi has approached the lawmakers loyal to him for the approval of a multi-billion naira loan and the passage of the budget. The pro-Amaechi lawmakers carved a new mace and sit in the Banquet Hall of the Government House, where state dinners are held. It is believed that the anti-Amaechi lawmakers will use a public facility to conclude the impeachment. Like Pro-Amaechi lawmakers, they have their own mace.
