Riverside Police Department K9 Officer Hill was on patrol about - TopicsExpress

Riverside Police Department K9 Officer Hill was on patrol about 2am when he noticed a German Shepherd roaming the street. Officer Hill turned around in fear for her safety and was able to befriend her, her name is Macy. Hill called dispatch with the ID number found on the collar but was unable to find an owner due to the animal shelter being closed. Officer Hill gave Macy a ride along in the front of his cruiser and took her to the shelters after hour drop off. Hill checked back the following day and animal control Officer Fuller was able to give the good word that she was picked up by her owners. Macys owners (Chris, Jewels and Zak) were not aware of who found her and when told that is was a Police Officer of the K9 unit they were tickled and extremely appreciative. I was talking with Chris, also a telecommunications business owner and told him a little bit about the K9 Unit and what I knew about their program, one thing I told him is about a fundraiser in the works for the K9 unit to get the last 2 dogs their ballistic protective vests. Chris was quick to jump in and share his level of excitement for Canines and the RPD K9 Unit and offered to help in any possible to make those vests happen, not just because a K9 Officer found his dog, but because he himself knows some people in the department and loves Dogs. Chris, Jewels and Zak wanted to give a big thank you to Officer Hill for taking the time to help Macy and that they are happy to be reunited.
