Ro Teimumu says this Fiji Day is significant The Leader of Opposition Ro Teimumu Kepa said this year’s Fiji Day celebration is significant as we have just witnessed our first Parliamentary sitting in almost 8 years. Ro Teimumu said the Opposition stands ready to play its part in building a positive way forward for the people and as long as there is the will among the 50 newly elected Members of Parliament to turn the words of Accountability, Transparency and Inclusiveness, into real measurable deeds that the people can see happening, then there is good reason to be optimistic in our future. The Leader of Opposition also said that she is saddened by the fact that the actions of her ancestors who ceded Fiji to Queen Victoria in 1874 and the return of the Islands to the Chiefs and people of Fiji by Prince Charles on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II on our Independence day in 1970 is not recorded for its historical significance in the constitution of Fiji. However, Ro Teimumu said we celebrate the occasion with all the pomp and ceremony befitting its significance. She urges all citizens in Fiji to take a moment to pray and give thanks for the small blessings that this first step back to democracy has given the people. Ro Teimumu also hopes that the promise given to the people that there will be no more coups becomes a reality. fijivillage/news/Ro-Teimumu-says-this-Fiji-Day-is-significant-95r2ks/ Fijivillage :: Your home on the world wide web fijivillage Fiji Day celebration is significant as we have just witnessed our first Parliamentary sitting in alm...
