Road to The Cup..... Im suppose to wait until the final Buzzer this evening to share, I never do things the right way. Chapter 1-Three seasons ago a 16 year old Hockey Player ran into a Goalie post while practicing w/ Muskegon Lumberjacks. Dislocating his Shoulder. As one would suspect he marched on, finishing a season dislocating it numerous times, right up to the final period of the State Finals. Onto Labrum Surgery, after 5 months rehab we have a repaired hockey player. Ready for round 2 of Jr Hockey. Chapter 2-Lumberjacks release. Hes picked up immediately by The Indiana Ice Jr Team. Having a successful Rookie year. Our hearts drop to our stomachs. That same shoulder dislocated after 51 games. 3 games left in his Rookie year. This was a very tough one to swallow. Hockey player sits across the desk of Coach Jeff Brown after the game, assuring him. Go get well, you will play for me next season Chapter 3- The MOST important Chapter. By the grace of God & a spectacular Surgeon, Dr Joseph Randolph from Ortho Indy. We have a bigger better Shoulder. Weve added another procedure this time. (Never forget to share you played QB for 8 years). You will rehab for 6 months before stepping on the Ice this time, no exceptions Dad makes a make shift shooting machine in a storage unit. Treadmill skates 5 days, Exercise Bike, Good nutrition, and a little fun here & there. Drives to Indy once a month for ck ups. Month 5, the most important month of rehab. amazing you are a month ahead of schedule AGAIN, Im gonna refer to you as the Adrian Peterson of Hockey you are cleared, now go play some Hockey. Chapter 4- Return to Indy Ice Main Camp at the end of August. Players stalls have names. No not this Player. We were sure you wouldnt be back until November, grab a folding chair and use that for now If you know this player, you know what comes next. Time to prove them wrong. Yes, First preseason game in September, a name on stall and a #15 Jersey with the name TALCOTT on the back, hanging nicely. As the season develops, so do the players. A great playoff run for this player and The Ice Team. Chapter 5- The outcome of game 5 will be the most important event of the season for both teams, as it should be. BUT......even if youve never watched your child go through adversity. You know this players parents have already won. He never gives up! We are extremely proud of you Alex Talcott as you finish up your USHL career. Good Luck to you and Indiana Ice tonight. Silence the Cowbells. #RoadToTheClark And most of all. HAVE A PURPOSE #HAP To be continued.........
