Robert J. Lakosky July 24, 1922 ~ September 25, 2013 Robert J. Lakosky, age 91 of 7211N Lakosky Road, Manistique (Crooked Lake) passed away Wednesday morning, September 25, 2013, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique. Robert was born July 24, 1922 in Cooks. The son of Charles and Lillie (Roberts) Lakosky and graduated from Cooks High School. During World War II, he proudly served in the United States Army. On June 12, 1948, Robert married the former Mae Ellen Niemi in Garden, Michigan. They made their home in various communities throughout Michigan and Wisconsin. Following his retirement in 1980, they returned to their beloved Crooked Lake in Manistique from the Detroit area. Mae preceded him in death on October 5, 2011. Robert worked as an operating engineer in the construction business. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique where he was a member of the Remnant of God prayer group. Robert was a founding member of the Manistique Moose Lodge and the Marquette Koinonia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, a good card game and sharing stories. Robert is survived by his children: Robert (Sue) Lakosky of Tecumseh, MI Mary (Ron) Karolak of Ortonville, MI Charles (Barbara) Lakosky of New Baltimore, MI Mark (Marcia) Lakosky of Clinton Township, MI and Monte (Michelle) Lakosky of Manistique, MI. grandchildren: Angel, Robert, Danielle, Carrie, Nicole, Shelley, Erin, Philip, Amber, Christopher, Justine, Malorie and Madison; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Lilly Anne Ertel of Racine, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Peter, grandsons Charles and Simon; along with 8 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique with Father Glenn Theoret officiating. Burial will be in the Inwood Township Cemetery at Cooks, MI. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis de Sales Church or school, 210 Lake Street, Manistique, MI 49854.
