Robert Wyles Last Will and Testament, written in 1680, difficult to translate, some words faded, some words indecipherable, very difficult, but there are same names in both Robert and James Wills, in particular the Law family spelt LAWE in James Will, and of course so close together date wise. I was curious to get a picture in my mind of how they dressed and how he may have looked considering he was leaving his Apparel, (wardrobe of clothing) to his Grandson, so have included a drawing of the style in that year!) IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN.................. I ROBERT WYLES do contribute and make this my Last Will and Testament, for manner and for me following ? I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God, my Creator ? , through mercy in and by the merits and indication of my Blessed Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, to obtain eternal life, and my body to be buried in hope of a part in the first resurrection. Amen. I give to my daughter Wyles, my silver penknife ad the fine Brass Pans, the Holland ? and Board Cloth items, I give to my son Wyles four daughters, to each of them a twenty shilling piece of gold respectively and likewise to each of them a silver spoon. Then to Sarah Wyles, the (looks like orchard ?) looking ? . From ? I acquit my daughter Law? of all sums of money discoursed for her since her husbands death. Then I bequeath unto the hands of my daughter Law? thirty pounds to be funds of use for the use of her daughter Sarah Law, provided she be obedient to her mother and have her consent in her marriage, and I give to Sarah Law the bed which I lodge in this ? Chamber, with all the bedding thereto belonging, and another pair of sheets for shrift, with three pewter dishes of those on the Pewter Shelf. Our Brass Pans and Bath in the Mattor? Chamber and Leather chairs and Buffet Stools. A five shilling piece of Gold I give to Rebecca Law, thirty pounds to be paid to her when she accomplishes the age of one and twenty years, or on the day of her marriage, whichever shall first happen. And further I give her, the said Rebecca, the bed in the Married Chamber with all the furniture thereto belonging ? ? , the new Brass Pans, Three of the ? Pewter Dishes, the Table in the parlour, the Cupboard, Five Buffet Stools, Five leather Chairs, one wrought cushion, five ? ? .
