Robin Williams death hit me too close to home. Before you say that you understand my pain, or that you too are mourning, understand the why. You see, out of this loss, it isnt death that scares me: we all die -- Fact. But we dont all die from a mental illness. Due to the stigma of mental illness, I was unable to receive help or even a proper name for my struggles until just last fall. I cried when I was diagnosed. I cried when my doctor wrote out my prescription. She hugged me and told me to fill it when I was ready. It took me over a week to finally fill it. But it was the best thing I had ever done. The same mental illnesses that I was diagnosed with run on both sides of my family, but no one was ever willing to talk about it. So this is me, talking about it. Keep fighting.
