Roddy White Looking to Reach 10,000 Career Receiving Yards: Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White needs 73 receiving yards in Sundays game against the Carolina Panthers in order to reach the 10,000-yard mark for his career, per The Atlanta Journal Constitution. While no longer the top wideout on his own team—that honor has been bestowed to Julio Jones—White is the Falcons all-time leader in receptions (724), receiving yards (9,927) and receiving touchdowns (59). Drafted by Atlanta with the 27th overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft, White has known just one home during his professional career, which is now in its 10th season. He was selected with the intent of finally giving Michael Vick a true No. 1 wide receiver, but by the time White blossomed into the player Atlanta expected, Vick was out of the league due to the infamous Bad Newz Kennels scandal. After compiling just 952 receiving yards in two seasons with Vick as his primary quarterback, White broke out for 1,202 yards in 2007, despite playing on a 4-12 team that was forgettably quarterbacked by Joey Harrington, Chris Redman and Byron Leftwich. White recorded no fewer than 1,153 receiving yards in each of the next six seasons, earning a reputation for consistency and durability. The six-year streak of 1,000-yard seasons ended last year, when White missed games for the first time in his career and was often limited even when on the field. Though perhaps not the star he once was, the 33-year-old White will soon become just the 42nd player with 10,000 career receiving yards.
