Rogers Family Homemade Pizza (Makes two pizzas) Preheat oven to 400* Shred 2 lbs cheese of your choice and set aside. (Use less if desired- we like ours cheesy!) Oil or grease two cookie sheets or 2 med. size pizza pans (I use olive oil or PAM) If using whole wheat flour, We like to sprinkle cracked wheat on top of the oil in the pans DOUGH: In a large bowl, stir gently together in order- 2 c warm water 2 TB yeast 2 TB sugar or honey (best if using whole wheat flour) 2 TB olive or canola oil 1 TB salt 5 c white, or 1/2 white 1/2 whole wheat flour (add a little more if needed until not sticky, and elastic) Let rise while cooking the following- SAUCE: In a large skillet or frying pan over med. heat- 1 lb lean hamburger, sausage, or ground turkey or sausage, or any combination, browned and in small kernel-size pieces, drain, return to heat. (You can leave the previous step out if you want it meat-free) Add- 1 15 oz can plain tomato sauce, plus 1/2 can water. 1 pkg McCormick Italian Style with Mushrooms Spaghetti Seasoning (or your own favorite Italian seasoning). Bring to a simmer, remove from heat. Punch down dough, separate into two equal halves. Roll each half out on the pans, top with sauce, shredded cheese and/or toppings of your choice (sometimes we use turkey pepperoni- same flavor, LOW fat!) Bake for 15-18 min. or until crust begins to brown and cheese bubbles. Our sons and their friends loved it from the time they were old enough to eat it, so did all their friends. The missionaries like it, too!
